Dubai to Post 1.5-2 Per Cent Growth: Al Qamzi

18/05/2009 – Khaleej Times – Dubai will post economic growth for this year of between 1.5 and 2 per cent, a top government official said on Sunday, a slightly lower projection than what the emirate last forecast in March.
‘Till now, if there is no surprise, we will achieve this growth rate,’ said Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of Dubai’s Department of Economic Development, or DED.
The overall economic situation in the UAE is good compared to other nations in the Gulf region, Qamzi added, speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a business meeting in Dubai.
The state news agency WAM reported in March that Dubai’s government at that time projected economic growth of 2 per cent for 2009.
